Team France has confirmed its GT Cup line-up for the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games, which will see the established pairing of Jean-Luc Beaubelique and Jim Pla tackle the 1-3 November event in Rome.
Beaubelique and Pla were the French representatives at last year's FIA GT Nations Cup, the forerunner of the FIA Motorsport Games, where they piloted a Mercedes-AMG GT3 prepared by the renowned AKKA ASP squad. The same programme has been retained for the GT Cup assault, with both drivers, the team and car all remaining unchanged.
Indeed, this will extend a long-running partnership between bronze-graded Beaubelique and silver racer Pla. The duo finished as runners-up in the 2018 Championnat de France FFSA GT/GT4 France standings and have this year contested the full Blancpain GT Series with AKKA ASP. Their highlight to date came in June, when they joined with Mauro Ricci to take Pro-Am class victory on home turf at the Circuit Paul Ricard 1000kms.
They will look to replicate that winning from when the FIA Motorsport Games is staged at Vallelunga Circuit near Rome. Team France joins a growing list of nations that have confirmed full GT line-ups, though it is the first to commit to using Mercedes-AMG machinery.
Competitors from six disciplines will compete at the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games, with GT, Touring Car, Formula 4, Drifting, Karting Slalom and Digital categories making up the schedule. At present, Team France has only confirmed its participation in the GT Cup competition.
