Pirelli will be the exclusive tyre partner for the FIA Motorsport Games, supporting six disciplines at the global multidisciplinary Race of Nations when it kicks off in Marseille and the south of France next week, 26-30 October.
Pirelli has been selected as the tyre of choice at the second edition of the event, to supply and support competitors across GT and GT Sprint, KCMG Formula 4, the modern Rally2 and Rally4 disciplines, as well as Historic Rally - making it one of the busiest weekends of the year for the Italian firm.
Decades of experience make Pirelli the ideal partner to manage the logistical feat of efficiently collaborating with each nation’s team while upholding the company’s principles of sustainability that characterises its participation in hundreds of sporting events each year.
Pirelli’s motorsport division has been awarded the highest possible three-star rating by the FIA, as part of its Environmental Accreditation Programme. Pirelli's environmental approach will enable the group to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
Examples of Pirelli’s own environmental sustainability objectives, both in business and manufacturing, include the reduction of overall CO2 emissions by 25% by 2025 (compared to 2015 levels) as well as the aim of purchasing 100% of its electricity from renewable sources: a target already achieved for all of Pirelli’s European plants.
Pirelli will provide three key products to support the six disciplines:
GT & GT Sprint
The Pirelli DHF tyre is used for the world’s top GT3 racing categories, having proved its capabilities over a wide variety of cars and conditions this year, all across the globe.
KCMG Formula 4
KCMG Formula 4 competitors will be equipped with the Pirelli P Zero DM slick racing tyre, which has been specifically developed for the hybrid F4 cars and will be used for the first time in the FIA Motorsport Games this year.
Rally2, Rally4 & Historic Rally
Asphalt tyres in hard compound (P Zero RA5A and RA5), soft compound (PZero RA7+ and RA7) and wet spec (Cinturato RWB and RW1) will be provided for the Rally categories.
Matteo Braga, Pirelli racing technical manager, and Terenzio Testoni, Pirelli rally activity manager, comments: "For Pirelli it is a great commitment, as well as a great honour, to be again this year the main supplier of this event, which we are happy to support with our rally and track products, specifically developed for the various categories and validated in the championships we supply worldwide.
“The various races on the programme promise to be as challenging as the individual championships and it will be interesting to see our top products all competing together. We will certainly have many things to learn and transfer to future developments of our range here as well.”
