Cross Car - Sweden and Belgium bag Qualifying bragging rights ahead of final

The final Heats played out in Cross Car ahead of the Semi-Finals and Final races for the medals at the FIA Motorsport Games, with Team Sweden and Team Belgium in the prime grid positions.

Team Sweden held the early bragging rights in the morning's second and third Heat races for Senior drivers - held over five laps each time - thanks to the flying Patrick Halberg, who took both victories including a dominant seven-second triumph in the final Heat ahead of Team Norway's Ole-Henry Steinsholt and the Team Czech Repulic entry of Adam Kotaska.

The winner of the other group would be Team Spain after a thrilling contest that was won on the final lap by the opportunistic Ivan Pina-Chinchilla, stealing a narrow win in a photo finish by 0.040s over Team Italy's Simone Firenze and France's David Meat to place second in the Heat classifications on combined for a Semi-Final pole position. Norway, Italy and Czech Republic rounded out the top five. Team UK's chances were halted prematurely by engine problems meanwhile.

In the Juniors, an early head start went the way of Team France after a scorching run by Etan Pepujol put him ahead of Team Norway’s Eirik Steinsholt and the Team Sweden entry of Alexander Gustafsson the second heat of the week. The second group winners would be Team Belgium, as Romuald Demelenne won his final Heat race to ensure he would also start from pole position, with both winners ahead of Team Netherlands (Nathan Ottink) who set a quicker time than fellow heat runner-up, Sweden’s Gustafsson.

The Semi-Finals and Finals take place for Senior and Junior Cross Car from 15:00.
