MARSEILLE, France (Saturday, 15 October 2022) – The FIA Motorsport Games 2022 will welcome drivers and teams from 28 new nations to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals across 16 disciplines spanning the spectrum of racing in the south of France, 26-30 October.
The introduction of 10 new disciplines for the second edition of the multidisciplinary event has been a significant factor in helping new National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) to enter competitors to race under their country’s flag and colours.
Now, 28 nations new to the FIA Motorsport Games will be among the 70 ASNs uniting in motorsport in Marseille and surrounding venues this month.
Here, we introduce the new nations competing, A-C:
Andorra will be represented at the FIA Motorsport Games for the first time this year, with Octavio Pisco Araujo taking on the mighty competition of the Fanatec Esports discipline in a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Team Argentina will debut in two disciplines. Joining the new-for-2022 Cross Car Junior category being staged at Autocross Veynois, Veynes, will be 13-year-old Jaun Manuel Grigera. Rodrigo Gallo, with his BMW E36 will be hunting for medal honours in Drifting.
The first FIA Motorsport Games delegation from Bahamas is set to contest three categories in France. Despite having no permanent kart circuit, the >ASN< has staged a series of local competitions on temporary courses to determine the country’s first ever competitors across two Karting disciplines.
Caden Burbrudge will represent the nation’s first entry to Karting Slalom, while Ramando Hudson, Christopher Bain and Jashai Burrows and Giselle Liriano have been selected as the Team Bahamas entry for Karting Endurance.
Dominik Kyle completes the Bahamas contingent, joining Fanatec Esports with the McLaren 720S GT3.
Bangladesh enters the FIA Motorsport Games for the first time in France with a sole representative in Fanatec Esports. Arhaam Rahaman joins the 50-plus field for the 2022 event in a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
The Barbados Motoring Federation has confirmed two debut entries for Team Barbados. Thanks to the support of Barbados Tourism Marketing, Calem Maloney will fly the nation’s flag in the Karting Sprint Senior competition.
Leon Sealy, in a McLaren 720S GT3, has been selected as the Team Barbados Fanatec Esports entry.
Flying the Canadian flag in France will be two drivers spanning the motorsport spectrum. Representing the grassroots of the nation’s motorsport, Keaton Chase Dietrich and ? will compete in Karting Slalom.
Joining them at Circuit Paul Ricard as the nation’s Touring Cars entry will be reigning FEL Sportscar Canada champion Travis Hill. “To be able to represent Team Canada and the Canadian TCR field is really an honour, both as a driver and owner of TW0th Autosport,” says Hill.
“I feel like it’s a great accomplishment for us, it really shows for all the hard work we’ve been doing for the last few years with the Audi RS3 LMS.
“Coming off the back of that season with FEL, I think it’s really important to show that Canadians have a place in international competition, to show the ability to develop drivers here in Canada, from the karting system and into the car ranks and show what we can do.”
Team Chile will comprise of three drivers competing in three disciplines on the >ASNs< first entry to the FIA Motorsport Games. The expansion of the event to include Karting Sprint for drivers aged over 14 years has helped Gustavo Suarez earn his place on the squad.
Having risen through the karting ranks and already represented her country on the international stage, María José Pérez De Arce Rodríguez will compete for KCMG Formula 4 medal glory.
