The FIA Motorsport Games Karting Sprint Junior and Senior competitions are in full flow at Circuit Paul Ricard, with both fields - each comprising 31 nations - completing their respective five free practice sessions ahead of qualifying practice later this afternoon.
Karting Sprint Junior
In the Junior ranks, Jules Caranta (France), Yam Pinto (Israel), Gaarde Pedersen (Denmark), Kian Gauci (Malta), and Brazil’s Gabriel Koenigkan all took turns in topping the order across the five sessions.
Belgium’s Thibaut Ramaekers also featured highly in the first and fifth sessions, Peru’s Andreas Cardenas had a strong FP2, while Spain’s Aaron García López came a close second fastest in the third free practice.
With only one second covering the 28 of the 31 contenders in the fifth session, this will be an incredibly close contest amongst some of the youngest drivers competing in the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games.
Karting Sprint Senior
The Senior competition is proving just as close thus far, with Elie Goldstein (Belgium), Ariel Elkin (Israel) and Joel Bergström (Sweden) each heading one of the five sessions. Spain’s Nacho Tünon, meanwhile, managed to stamp his authority in the third and fifth practice outings.
While those five drivers took turns in topping the order, they were joined by Team Lithuania’s Adrijus Rimkevičius, who was also in the mix in the early morning. Austria’s Oscar Wurz also featured as third fastest in session three.
Qualifying practice is up next, Karting Sprint Junior leading the way at 16:20 ahead of the Senior session at 17:02.
