Team Italy's Andrea Kimi Antonelli has continued his dominance of KCMG Formula 4 competition at the FIA Motorsport Games today by taking pole at Circuit Paul Ricard.
This year's Italian and German Formula 4 champion was fastest in both practice sessions yesterday and went even faster today with a time of 2:07.460 for the 5.82km circuit.
His qualifying session was not without misfortune, however. After setting his fastest time, Antonelli later made contact with Team Chile's Maria José Pérez de Arce Rodriguez in the final corner - spinning the Chilean.
Team Austria's Charlie Wurz was second fastest, 0.681 of a second behind Antonelli, with Team Germany's Valentin Kluss in third.
The remainder of the top ten included Team Brazil (Pedro Clerot) fourth; Team Portugal (Manuel Espirito Santo) fifth; Team Serbia (Filip Jenic) sixth; Team Switzerland (Dario Cabanelas) seventh; Team Belgium (Lorens Lecertua) eighth; Team Georgia (Sandro Tavartkiladze) ninth; and Team Australia (Costa Toparis).
The KCMG Formula 4 aces will contest their first race this afternoon at Circuit Paul Ricard at 17:35, with the Medal race contested tomorrow morning at 9:40.
Drivers competing in the KCMG Formula 4 event will not only be fighting for gold, silver, and bronze medals, but the winner also leave the FIA Motorsport Games with a 10,000 euro bonus to use for their career advancement provided by chassis manufacturer and renowned motorsport organisation, KCMG.
